This was a crazy weekend.

I went to three birthday parties my daughters’ were invited to - and then a pre-school picnic to finish off Sunday.

Who could have imagined that 2 and 4 year old birthday parties could be so draining.

Of course, I don’t care what I’m doing as long as I’m with my family - and I did have some interesting conversations.

During one of the parties, two of the other dads knew I worked primarily “online”.

They both had ideas for creating information products. Both guys have MBAs and they had interesting ideas. I gave them an “informal” coaching session right there with all the craziness going on (as only a group of 2 year olds can create).

Each of them have one thing working FOR them and another AGAINST them:

1. POSITIVE: They both know their chosen information product topic well as it relates to their current job. And they both appear to be passionate about their topic.

2. NEGATIVE: They have to UNLEARN a lot of traditional marketing.

Forget the 30+ page business plans and focus groups. Forget finding investors to create an online biz (it takes about $50)

The easiest way to succeed (both physically and financially) is to find others who are already successful and model them.

There are a lot of great professors however many of them have spend a majority of their career in academia - not “in the trenches”.

In all my years of college, through both a Bachelors and Master’s Degree, I only took one business course (and it wasn’t very
good).

Everything I built, I did my doing. No theory, just lots of trial and error.’

I’ve had my share of successes and lots of setbacks too. And yes, you learn more from your failures than your successes.
