5% Bodyfat.. And Disappointed

Ok, I’m officially tired.

We just drove back to Florida yesterday and hit so much traffic in North Carolina so an 11 hour trip turned into a 14 hour all day adventure.

We pulled in almost midnight and, of course, I was on feeding “duty” last night so I had to wake-up at 3:45 to feed Camryn.

But hey, if the worst thing in life I have to deal with is waking up to feed my healthy baby, I’ll take it in a heartbeat.

So this holiday weekend we were with my wife’s cousins.

One of them is 27 years old and an amateur boxer. It’s not his career, he just loves to train for boxing (altough he did have one amateur fight which he lost in a close decision).

He trains almost exclusively with bodyweight and some light dumbbell training and is now down to a shredded 5% bodyfat.

But there is a problem.

He wants to start to pack on some muscle. He’s only 5′5″ and weighs 124 pounds (about 56 KG for my metric-friendly readers)

When we discussed his diet and training, he definitely wasn’t taking in enough protein.

And although his workout got him super-fit, 5% bodyfat is quite low, it wasn’t what he wanted.

I told him if he wants to GAIN MUSCLE, you must train differently.

Different movements, some heavier weights, anaerobic conditioning, etc.

So I recommended his check out a program by Vince DelMonte. He’s a great trainer who I finally met in person a few weeks ago.

Vince lives and breathes training. During lunch, we chatting all about training, and his specialty, how to gain muscle.

I checked out his program and he really does have some solid training advice if your goal is to gain muscle.
