Did I Create a Monster?

Since I created my first web site almost 10 years ago, I have received a lot of praise - and a fair share of criticism as well.

Most of the praise come from my clients and fellow fitness professionals who appreciate the fact I am open and willing to share my ’secrets’ of success (both physical and financial)

I’ve taught thousands of people how to get more fit through my web sites and products. And thousands of fitness professionals have learned how to leverage their time and get paid what they are worth instead of sweating it out in a gym for 15 years only to leave the industry for a ‘real job’ to pay their bills.

But with all the success stories - there are the critics. I often get blamed for single-handedly ruining the fitness industry. In fact, my name is now used as a type of marketing such as “he’s doing typical Ryan Lee marketing…” (ok, I will take that as a compliment!)

People do not like the fact so many fitness pros are now creating their own web sites and creating their own information products. And most of the biggest critics are my fellow fitness professionals who are envious of the new breed of fitness entrepreneurs. They are living in a scarcity world when they should embrace abundance.

Are some fitness professionals taking my information and creating sub-par products. Absolutely. Those that do are not listening to all my advice and trying for a quick buck instead of being in it for the long haul.

I just want to clarify a few important points…

#1. Building your web site, learning marketing and selling information products (DVDs, CDs, etc.) is great IF (and that’s a BIG IF) you are good at what you do and your clients are getting results. The first thing I say in all my marketing programs is you MUST provide good information.

#2. I don’t know of a single true fitness professional who entered the industry just to make money. Those who do quickly exit the field. The last thing I thought about when becoming certified was that I’d become rich (Heck, just to move out of my parents basement would have been an accomplishment!)

#3. There is nothing wrong with making money provided you do it legally and ethically. You can do more good with money than you can without it. Hey if you are opposed to materialistic goods, then give it all away to charity. Money builds schools, fire stations, roads, churches, synagogues, hospitals, and the list goes on and on…

We are only here for a short time, live the life of your dreams. Escape the negative influences and find your own path to success both physically and financially.
