You Don’t Know JACK!

Last week, I spoke at an exclusive $3k per person seminar.

At the event, I met a big time book agent. This is the guy who LITERALLY wrote the book about getting published.

Anyway, after chatting for a bit, he said he’d like to represent my next book. And I agreed - he’s the right fit for me.

Yesterday we spoke on the phone for about an hour and brainstormed my next book’s title and focus. I listened intently as he revealed lots of interesting facts about the book publishing industry.

Towards the end of the conversation, I asked him how he chooses who to work with. He gets literally, hundreds of people contacting him who are dying to have him represent their book.

He told me he rejects 99% of them because the authors are just too stuck in their ways.

These authors don’t want to listen to his input (even though he knows every book publisher and has been doing it for over 20 years).

I’m smart enough to know I don’t know everything.

I believe, with every ounce of my being, once you think you know it all - you’re in big, big trouble.

You have two ears and one mouth for a reason. You should LISTEN twice as much as you talk.

Find a mentor.

Seek out other successful people and ask them how they became successful. Then shut up and listen.

Just wanted to share this tip for the day.

Stay strong,
Ryan
