PRODUCT REVIEW: Austin’s Incubator?

A few months ago, I had planned on doing more product reviews.. but I went on a writing tear on this site and just never got back to it. That’s just what happens sometimes.

But something got my attention. Or should I say someone.

I had a big launch for my Nano Continuity, and one of the top affiliates was a guy named Austin Walsh. He was just 19 and I couldn’t believe how many this young gun had sold.

So I checked out his Facebook system as my first “product review” – and while I though it was good, it didn’t blow me away. I just couldn’t figure this guy out.

We met in Vegas and I liked him instantly. The kid lives and breathes marketing and motivation (a killer combination). Plus, unlike some smart marketers.. he’s got an actual personality hanging with the “older” guys like me :)

Fast forward to last week and relaunched my Inner Circle. And again, Austin finished in the Top 10 earning a spot back to Vegas with just one or two emails to his list. They were really responsive and you can tell he has been working hard to build trust with his list.

Then, about two weeks ago he sends me a text that he has a new program out I should review. He was confident I’d love it.

I told him even though he was one of my top affiliates, he should know I will NEVER sell my soul and give a positive review just because I like the kid. His confidence is palpable and said to roll the dice. So here’s the review…
FIRST IMPRESSESSIONS

Right away, I saw there was more than his previous Facebook product. A LOT more.

Instead of a piece of software and one session from a seminar, this is a COMPLETE training system.

Check out the screenshot and see all the training videos to the right:

Screenshot of Austin's Incubator

What I liked were the multi-media options to review the material. I like to listen to mp3s and print out the written material so I can read them in bed while my wife watches Jersey Housewives!

Multi-Media Options

My favorite resource was definitely his handbook and this is where Austin’s program stood out from the rest.

Depending on how long you’ve been studying “internet marketing”, you might already know a lot of the material in the workshop. Things like niche selection, creating a funnels and squeeze pages might not be new, but it is refreshing to hear a different take on it (especially from a 20 year old who has some serious marketing chops).

But the workbook and the “INTERNAL” lessons really shined.

You can tell he has been heavily influenced by people like Les Brown and Jim Rohn. It’s pretty apparent throughout this program (and that’s a good thing!)

And while the workbook is just 14 pages, it asks questions that you must be able to answer if you want to succeed. You have to really think about what he’s asking you.

Too many marketing products just throw tactic upon tactic with no focus on your internal motivation – but that’s where the real success happens.

Is the workbook a complete innovation? No. But the fact that Austin took the time to drill these down to a very manageable 14 pages was refreshing. It’s the type of workbook you’d print out and put in your binder to continue to reference.

BONUSES

The “List Building Mania” was a solid 60 minute training video.

But I really enjoyed the bonus training videos covering everything from crafting a good “story” from Hollywood Producer Gary Goldstein to adword training by Perry Marshall. There are 15 training videos in there – and I haven’t had time to go through all of them. But I’m sure in each 60 minute training – there will be at least 1 or 2 big takeaway.. and that’s all you really need.

He also has some “Private Label Rights” products, but I think that cheapens the offer. If it were my program, I’d remove those as I think Austin’s material is stronger than that and certainly doesn’t need it.

THE PRICE

I have no doubt if this program were released 2 years ago, he would have charged $1,000. There’s no question.

But Austin knows the market has changed and is selling this system for just $67.

To recap, some of the “marketing” training is stuff you might have heard before, but I’m sure you will still pick up some new tactics. And the workbook, the motivational sessions and the bonuses make the $67 price tag a really, really good deal. Heck, I spend more than that just taking my wife out to dinner and a movie.

Congratulations Austin, you have won me over..

    Ryan,

Don’t know about this one. Austin is a good kid…with an emphasis on kid. But come on here his father Bill Walsh, put him in business and called on his friends to pad his testimonials page. This is not conjecture it is fact. Pretty easy to be successful when your fathers friends have to mail for you. His success story on how he got people to go to a party in high school….are you serious? There was never a need to promote parties to high schoolers ever. The fact that this is a success story is comical.

The true test is to see that if you will actually leave these TRUE comments up vs deleting this post.

Ryan, I love your stuff…but promoting Austin….come on now?

    • Ryan Lee September 22, 2011 at 5:46 pm #

      Hey Jack,

Austin is a young guy, but he’s smart.

I don’t get into his background or his father or his father’s friends.

For me, each product stands on it’s own – and I do think that $67 is a good deal for the info.

      Ryan

P.S. And yes, I ALWAYS leave up comments both positive and negative :)

    • Austin Walsh September 22, 2011 at 6:04 pm #

      Hey Jack,

Not sure how well you know myself or my Dad, but I do credit a lot of my success to my Father.

I was blessed to have him show me how to take some entrepreneurship talent and turn it into an online business.

As for your thoughts on my Dad getting all of his friends to mail for me… well that’s just interesting.

Anyway I hope you can enjoy the fact that I will be in the space for a long time, and here to help other people out. I sit here and work my ass off just like any other true entrepreneur and care more about customers and clients then 99% of the other so called gurus out there.

      Hope you can respect that.

      Thanks,

      Austin Walsh

Oh and as for the age… Les Brown said something to me pretty smart

“You are never to young to teach, and never to old to learn.”

        Hey Austin,

Great quote! You learn something everyday :)

Jack – it is true – i opened the door to a few of my friends like Mark Victor Hansen and Gary Goldstein and Austin worked for them for FREE for 30 days so they could test his competency in helping them. At the end of the 30 days I told my friends if you like his help in building your fan pages then you should pay him!

FYI A relationship will only open the door – creating value keeps it open!

They not only paid him but a couple of them wrote about Austin in their books! Why don’t people simply give credit and insight as to how someone can be better instead of putting people down! How many 19 year olds do you know that building companies and helping people learn how to become even more successful? Either way everyone has an opinion and thanks for sharing yours! Bill Walsh

    Ryan,

Did you read the negative feedback from Austin’s customers in direct response to your first review of his material? I’m not sure why you keep pushing Austin’s stuff.

How about a serious, in-depth review for a real IM guru’s product? You said you would do one for Mike Filsaime as your next review but we get Austin again.

    Cheers,
    Selma

    • Ryan Lee September 22, 2011 at 5:51 pm #

      Hi Selma,

I’m not “pushing” Austin’s product. In fact, the first review I did of his product was not a positive one (because I didn’t love the product).

I reviewed his again because he asked me too. When you meet someone face-to-face, they shake your hand, thank you for the honest review and then vow to create an even better product.. then I feel compelled to give him another chance.

And I’m not sure what qualified as a “real IM guru” product – but I will tell you that there are a lot of guys who do NOT want me to review their products. Plus, most of those products usually entail hours and hours of coaching material with live calls and live events (there’s just not enough time in the day to review it all).

The lower priced $50 – $100 products are usually focused and easily digestible.

      Ryan

    • Austin Walsh September 22, 2011 at 6:11 pm #

      Hey Selma,

We also had many customers who totally loved the product.

I understand that a few people did have a negative experience, but I think one of the core issues was first off my customer service was not the best at that point in time.

Secondly people are operating from a place of fear, instead of success.

When they do that they go into something believing that they will fail, and therefore it leads to a negative experience.

As for a real IM guru’s product, I am not sure what is classifies to be a real IM guru but Mike Filsaime did just promote us today as well.

Selma I am not sure if you had the opportunity to check out my product, but I would love for you just got peak around and see what YOU truly think.

Add me as a friend on Facebook and I’ll even do something just for you so I can hope to change your experience.

      Thanks,

      Austin Walsh

  3. Jon September 22, 2011 at 5:32 pm #

    REALLY???

Ryan, you’re a good guy and all… But Austin’s Incubator, Really?

    • Ryan Lee September 22, 2011 at 5:53 pm #

      Jon,

Check out my reply to see why I gave him a second chance.

I never judge products based solely on the marketer or the copy. I try to go through the product with an open mind and take each one on it’s own merit.

      Ryan

  4. kevin@ck3.us September 22, 2011 at 5:55 pm #

hey Ryan, you’ve always been a straight shooter who over-delivers on the value, so if you’re seeing some value in Austin’s Incubator, I’m checking it out with an open mind – and most likely an open wallet.

You gotta know we’ve all spent far more than this before on “training” that was anemic at best.

Just the sheer volume of training videos Austin includes in this is kinda impressive and speaks to some value there.

So who freaking cares who his old man is or isn’t?? I figure I can learn something from everyone, and this kid obviously has some serious successes I can learn from.

On second thought, I DO care who his old man is. Bill Walsh obviously knows how to create success, and apparently has passed that on to his son- so why would I NOT want to listen to that?!?!?!?

    So rock on, Ryan!

    • Ryan Lee September 22, 2011 at 6:04 pm #

      Hey Kevin,

      Thanks for your input.

Like I said, I always take the product at face value.

  5. Chris September 22, 2011 at 6:18 pm #

    Hi Ryan,

After reading your review, I tried Austin’s Facebook product. I desperately wanted it to work but it wouldn’t. I contacted customer service who refunded me. The only questions were what could they do to improve.

Thank you for your honest review. I may take a look at this product.

    Chris

  6. rick@luckygorilla.com September 22, 2011 at 7:00 pm #

First question… is the link to this product an affiliate link?

    • Beau September 22, 2011 at 7:36 pm #

      Rick,

Why would it not be? If Ryan liked the product enough to recommend it, it seems like he should be allowed to make a little bit of money for the time he took to write up the review and provide insight for others so they’re not going into product blind. After all, he’s worked hard to build reputation and trust, so he’s the one putting that on the line by promoting something. Seems like a fair trade to me.

      • rick@luckygorilla.com September 22, 2011 at 7:55 pm #

        Well, I TOTALLY disagree.

I certainly understand why Ryan might be using an affiliate link, but I’m already paying him for his unbiased advice every month.

And while I do think Ryan is totally ethical, pushing affiliate products on this type of platform crosses the line.

If he continues to push affiliate products in this membership site, I will cancel my membership.

        • Ryan Lee September 22, 2011 at 8:03 pm #

          Rick,

First – It is an affiliate link.

Second – This product review is FREE (it’s on my blog, it’s NOT an Inner Circle posting, it’s not within my membership site and you did NOT pay for this product review).

There are NEVER pitches or promotions within the Inner Circle weekly trainings or programs. Anyone who has been on the first 2 training can tell you it’s 100% no-pitch.

Hope that clears things up :)

          Best,
          Ryan

  7. David September 22, 2011 at 8:13 pm #

Damn… all of these whiners and negative people should maybe take a look at WHY they’re not successful? All people do is focus on the negative, DAMN! Get your head out of your asses and get out there and DO WORK. Stay positive. All your negativity will lead you to is failure.

    • rick@luckygorilla.com September 22, 2011 at 8:44 pm #

Whoa… it would appear YOU are the one with the problem. I take offense at your personal attack.

All I asked was if a link was an affiliate link. Not sure that qualifies me as someone with my “head up my ass”.

While my wife (and many others) would probably agree with you, I would appreciate you at least meet me in person before you start making fun of me.

      • Austin Walsh September 22, 2011 at 8:46 pm #

        Rick,

I do not think he was making fun of you.

Just telling you what you might need to hear. Focus on what you truly want to attain and it’s amazing what can happen.

Keep going and keep your head up!

        AW

        • rick@luckygorilla.com September 22, 2011 at 9:00 pm #

Jeez… now you are telling me what I might need to hear???? I certainly don’t need you to give me advice on motivation. I’m doing OK without it.

Maybe I need to insert some Zig Ziglar quotes here so I can join your cool kids club. Sounds like fun.

Here’s my advice to you… I have not seen your product, but based on other comments you should spend some more time there.

          • Austin Walsh September 23, 2011 at 6:54 am #

            Not motivation…

            that is a waste.

            Only a bit of inspiration : )

            AW

P.S. If you motivate an idiot what do you have?

  8. Moelwyn Hopkins September 22, 2011 at 10:59 pm #

Oh dear – at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what other people decide to do or say, just keep focusing on being the best YOU can be in a positive way. It doesn’t do anybody any good to dwell on or react to any form of negativity.

We should all be here for these reasons:

To care, to support, to encourage and to be SUCCESSFUL!

I wish the best for everyone.

    Moelwyn.

    • Ryan Lee September 23, 2011 at 1:23 am #

      Well said Moelwyn.

I always try to keep things positive and my goal is to create a supportive, caring community.

For the most part.. I think we are succeeding :)

I feel Ryan’s review was a fair review. I didn’t feel like he was showing any favoritism. Could it have been a little more in depth? Yes. But of course that takes more time. I have followed Ryan for a a while now and feel he is on the the straight shooters and doesn’t beat on or take advantage of his list. if you don’t believe him then don’t buy it.

As for the product, I have not seen the product so i can’t comment on the quality. I met Austin this year and he is more mature than is 19 years. He is very passionate about what he does. Heck he’s here responding. If you have doubts, ask him. He proves to be a smart marketer just in the fact that he has an opportunity to reach out and get to know Bill’s friends and have Bill’s guidance and he takes it. Wouldn’t you? Many people pay for such guidance and connection and then don’t use it.

I believe there is a 60 Day guarantee? so it’s not like you turn your money over and Austin dashes. You could even get it and post a follow up here after actually seeing it. After watching 2 yrs of $2000 launches, $67 is a bargain even it’s halfway good and get some good techniques. One 4 min Frank Kern training video is more than that.

    • Ryan Lee September 23, 2011 at 1:26 am #

      Thanks for your comments Todd.

You are correct, it takes a long time to go through products and do in-depth reviews (that’s why I haven’t done many).

But when I give a review, it’s 100% honest and authentic.

And I agree with the pricepoints.

If there is anything that looks even slightly interesting to me and it’s under $100 – I buy pretty quickly as I know that it doesn’t take much to get at least that much in content for a quick ROI

      Ryan

  10. Rona Thau September 23, 2011 at 12:17 am #

i appreciate the review and the low price of the product. i bought it. i will definitely check it out and ‘assume’ it’s worth the price…more to come after i check it out…

secondly, i also appreciate the fact that the IC is free of pitches and packed with value.

straight shooting is what it’s all about and as far as ‘age’? it’s a number. ethics, values, integrity are the foundation of true understanding. we all can benefit from learning, always.

    bring it on.
    keep building

      Hey Rona,

Once you go through it, post your thoughts about it here. \

And thanks for your support of the IC!

Wow! I don’t understand the hostility.
Ryan is giving his OPINION. Austin is giving a money-back guarantee.
    I don’t see a problem.
btw…impressive how you handle yourself, Austin. Makes me want to check out your product!

    • Ryan Lee September 23, 2011 at 1:28 am #

      Well said Cathy.

And I’m also proud of the way Austin is handling himself as well.

If I were 19 or 20 and people were taking shots at me… I wouldn’t be so patient :)

      Ryan

  12. James Cipriani September 23, 2011 at 12:47 am #

Wow! Little did I know what I was in for when I started reading this page. That is what these blog posts are for though…right?

Reading has left me with 3 feelings:

    1. I feel a little empathetic for this Austin kid with all the attacks he has endoured.
    2. I really would be apprehensive to buy the product even if I was interested with all the negative feedback (which from a consumer standpoint, is a good thing as long as the feedback is valuable).
    3. I may need a stiff drink to unwind (and I don’t drink).

I hope this endorsement doesn’t effect you negatively, Ryan. Overall, I think you put up good stuff.

  13. Joshua September 23, 2011 at 2:00 am #

    My two cents-

I think Ryan has been very transparent in most everything he does and that is why he is a real authority. I do believe that the affiliate link should be disclosed however as I don’t really care if he makes money if I but based off his review.

Now about the hot topic at hand. Without getting into a personal attack, I do believe that Austins stuff has a place in the IM world albeit for newbies or people whom are susceptible to dream selling……i.e. I was a 18 yr old and now I make 200k+ per year. First off he is blessed with having a father with great connections that to make 200k with those connections is more an expectation then a true grass roots success story.

I have seen Austin speak…I mean…pitch and yes he is mature and this is very much due to the company he has around to help him i.e. many people whom owe success to his father, which is a great thing to have

Many people wish and are jealous and wish they could be in his position but the fact is that many people in the IM world have ZERO connections to start..

Ryan started with not much except for determination and is now extremely successful and ETHICAL. He is a true model of success.

On the other-hand Bill(Austins Dad) does extremely well but his programs are not known for their quality, but I dare you to listen to him and not want to buy from him. He is a closer.

Seems like Austin is a chip off the old block, lotta talk, lotta fluff, pretty thin on real results and with all the negatives out there about his stuff its more buyer beware. $67 is the start of the funnel kids…..not the end result. Get ready for the upsells!

As long as you understand that then go forward and buy it, I have wasted more money on a crappy lunch then $67. But $67 for Austins program, even though the odds are against it being worth .67 cents, at least its a writeoff.

    • Austin Walsh September 23, 2011 at 6:50 am #

      Hey Josh,

I just wanted to bring up a quick story for you, and of course not attack but just shed a different light.

Firstly I was truly blessed, and yes I definitley know how to close a sale.

Secondly me and my Father are completely different yet very much the same and I have learned a lot from the positives and negatives over the years.

Most importantly I have heard a lot of people say the same thing about my Dad yet I had the experience just the other day to attend a wedding of two people that went through one of my Dad’s programs and it literally changed their life.

Most of the people at the wedding were good friends met through my Dad, and they had over a 100k ceremony because of the success princes they learned.

Not everyone is going to have the same results.

Yet I promise you one thing, I worked my ass off on this product so that it would provide RESULTS. I could give a shit about the money.

I make more money from my party business then a 19 year old kid come dream of, and I built this product because I was sick and tired of seeing all the crap in the marketplace.

To be honest we haven’t converted like crazy because it is not all hype and we are trying to help people.

So the .67 cents comment is not exactly true.

Yah maybe my Dad has made some mistakes, or just “closed” some people. Yet what we have done is different.

I would really like to see you put the “money where your mouth” is before you get to the all fluff.

and for the upsells well yes I am a marketer and we do have different programs for people ready to get to the next level quicker.

I hope you can appreciate my comments and take no offense to any of them I mean none just wanted to share my perspective.

      Thanks,

      Austin Walsh

have you ever taken any of our programs? It seems funny with clients in over 30 countries, some start-ups and some that do over 5Billion per year – our fluff seems to providing enough value that they continue to pay us year after year!

In addition the fluff that you talk about and thin value has created some incredible success stories! As we continue to expand our Rainmaker program in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia it seems that our educational programs on Focus, Business Systems and Accountability is working quite well for customers all over the world! By the way we are always on working on making the programs even better!

Are you aware that just one of the companies that attended our program and received funding through our group now has over 300,000 customers of which more 150,000 pay monthly for continuity services and that our group is on track to donate more than 5Million dollars this year alone to quality causes around the world!

Austin is my Son – I love him and I very proud of him for taking the time to create innovative products and help people! Let me know what your website is what your company does? I would like you to take the time and review his product from start to finish and then let me know if you think it is worth $67.00?

Either way i wish you success in what ever business you are engaged in!

Success is a process not an event!

Austin – I am very proud of you! Keep creating and sharing your insight!

Always Be open to your critics as many times they are your simply your competition making waves in disguise!

    Hey Ryan….

this is one of them kids, that isn’t happen chance…and he isn’t meeting himself coming back…so what is he…

    AN…

*Entrepenaur*, from a generation that already makes him an enigma!

I’ve seen this before a few years ago in the UK…a guy called Rob Benwell…the Bruce Lee of blogging…man this 20 year was turning the way to blog on it’s head,….he was literary making hundreds of thousands of dollars per month from blogging alone!

He held seminars with the big guns taking notes….my point is I truly feel as time goes by we are going to see more of the same from the younger generation as I feel more and more them will become rich online as the internet evolves…these guys are more atune to the net and can naturally adapt to the ever changing platform of the net quicker than we can!

    I trully believe that!

It looks a great product…and thats my point at one time this calibre of knowledge was only available from the minds of the big guns…this sets the presedent of the younger generation!

great post and product review Ryan…what a great blog….Ed.

    • Ryan Lee September 23, 2011 at 5:07 pm #

You bring up some good points Ed.

Some of these younger guys don’t know a world that existed WITHOUT the Internet. Think about that?

Austin Walsh: “If you motivate an idiot what do you have?” Very cute. Is that supposed to inspire us with regard to your class?

Please, someone asked Ryan a single question. Someone had an issue with the question being asked (sounds like politics). Ryan answered the question to the satisfaction of all. Austin adds the above after engaging the questioner.

No one should get attached for asking a simple question. The question may be provocative, but your answer (if you answer) does not have to be.

BTW: I have purchased several of Ryan’s products and will continue to do so!

    Hey Will,

I have heard that quote before on several occasions. What I think Austin was trying to point out is the fact that motivation alone is not the answer to getting results. If someone is focused on the wrong things, being highly motivated is only going to get them there faster. The real key is to become inspired to achieve great things (and we all have different definitions of what ‘great things’ are) and take action towards accomplishing your goals.

It is amazing what people can accomplish when they truly believe in themselves and take action.

Thanks for the clarification, Jit. :) If that was what Austin meant, then my reproach of the statement was misplaced. I’m reviewing his offer now….

        Hey Will,

No worries. If I had not heard that quote before, I would have taken it the same way you had. :)

        Cheers!

      Hey Jimmy.

I’m not in his coaching club – so I can’t comment specifically on it.

But I believe his coaching is slanted more specifically towards “social media marketing” where mine is probably more encompassing…

Wow! What a cool thread – just like the Jersey Housewife show Ryan mentioned in his review….

All credit to Austin for pulling this all together, for dedicating his time to create the product, and for having the courage to put himself out there and offer it to us. As he offers a full guarantee, all the risk seems to be on his shoulders.

Lessons here for us all even before we purchase the product. Action and Creation – two great combos!

Thanks to Austin. Keep kicking down those doors Austin and thanks to Ryan for taking the time to review the content and giving us a balanced review. (An Affiliate link on a $67 product….big deal….If this was about the money, Ryan would make more if he spent the same time sending an email to his list…)

    Best to all.

    Mr Marketer

PS – I’m reading my comment wondering if there could possibly be ANYTHING for anyone to take offence at…don’t think so but we’ll see. Onwards the slings and arrows…

I was introduced to Ryan Lee by Austin. I have found Austin to be a valuable mentor someone that truly cares, in the same mold as Ryan. I would highly recommend Austin’s work and it is no surprise that he is on the success track.

Austin has also put together a team of very helpful people that are there when you need them.
